On 2nd and 3rd May, the GAMER (Games And interactive MEdia Research) group at De Montfort University organized its first networking and collaboration event. The goal of the event was to bring together a diverse group of academics and industry members. The two-day event hosted four keynotes and 7 short talks on a variety of topics from artificial intelligence and games, to VR experience design, to inclusion in terms of game controllers but also in terms of game ethics.
IDG lecturer Antonios Liapis delivered the closing keynote of the event, titled "Designing with AI: Mixed-Initiative Tools for Game Design Tasks". The keynote covered work on AI-assisted game design, good practices and current research towards computational designers that accomodate their human designers or the properties of the game-specific patterns at hand.
