IDG staff members Georgios N. Yannakakis and Antonios Liapis attended the Dagstuhl Seminar 17471 titled "Artificial and Computational Intelligence in Games: AI-Driven Game Design". This highly prestigious seminar is accessible by invititation only, and it is the third such Seminar on the broad topic of artificial intelligence (AI) in games. Georgios N. Yannakakis has attended all 3 such seminars, and Antonios Liapis has attended the last 2 seminars; the Institute of Digital Games always makes a dynamic presence at this event. This year, the Seminar saw more than 30 leading figures in AI in games attend and brainstorm the challenges of AI of the next years. The seminar was preceded by talks of experts in the game industry (in companies such as Ubisoft), and the remainder of the seminar was informal with daily work groups tackling different topics. The outcomes of this Dagstuhl Seminar is expected to have a significant impact both on the science of creative algorithms, as well as on the economic and technological aspects of commercial game development.
