The Institute of Digital Games runs a number of EU funded projects at the intersections of game artificial intelligence, computer-aided design, affective computing, machine learning, evolutionary computation, and computational creativity within the domain of games, simulated environments and architecture; the candidate is expected to support research activities within these areas.

We have funded opportunities for:

Full-Time Research Support Officers (PhD Students),
Full-Time or Part-Time Research Support Assistants or Research Support Officers I and
Full-Time of Part-Time Research Support Officers III (Postdoctoral fellows)

Artificial Intelligence Research in AI for Games

Applications are invited for Research Support Officers to work on research projects supported by the European Union H2020 Research Framework. The Research Support Officers may also work on any other projects that are co-ordinated by the Institute of Digital Games.

The following general qualifications are required for all levels of employment:

• Hold (or in the process of obtaining) a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Architecture or related fields.
• Should be able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Have experience working with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Have good communication skills, both oral and written (an excellent command of English is essential)
• Experience in AI and machine learning, game design, parametric architecture, and media/content production will be considered a plus.

There are a number of different development and research roles which require further specific qualifications as indicated in the Call for Applications.

The Institute of Digital Games is the centre for research and education in game design, game analysis, and game technology at the University of Malta. Work performed by the Institute is at the forefront of innovative games research.
